Designing a mobile learning experience for aspiring poker players
Poker School Android App
PokerVIP began in 2010 as a poker-focused marketing agency, providing professional and recreational players with exclusive offers and promotions from some of the world's top poker rooms.
As part of its mission to help players improve their game, the team developed the PokerVIP School — a structured learning resource featuring articles, tutorials, videos, and strategy content. I was brought in as part of the design team to create the UI for the planned Android app, making the school's content accessible to players on the move.

My role: UI design for a poker learning platform on Android
My goal was to translate PokerVIP's growing content library into a clean, user-friendly mobile experience. The app needed to feel intuitive to newer players, while offering enough depth and structure to keep more advanced users engaged.
Key considerations included:
- A course-style structure to help users track progress through lessons and topics
- Optimised text and video presentation for smaller screens
- A clear content hierarchy to surface high-value material first
- Design considerations specific to Android patterns and UI behaviours
While the app was focused primarily on solo learning, I also explored light social features — such as bookmarking, sharing and progress tracking — to keep users motivated and returning.
